Over the past twenty years Andrew Veivers has established himself as a musician, teacher, director and composer of the highest calibre - touring, recording, composing, and arranging extensively for solo projects, his groups Flamenco Fire and The Saruzu Quartet as well as for great Australian artistic institutions such as The Sydney Theatre Company, Opera Queensland and the Woodford Folk Festival.
What's happening in 2022
While 2019 was a year full of music, theatre, touring and travel 2020/21 were errr, not.... Although here in Australia we have only been touched lightly be the full tragic scope of the COVID-19 pandemic my heart goes out to the many around the world who have not been so lucky and find themselves living very different lives at the moment. Fingers crossed the light at the end of this long tunnel is just around the corner!! That said 2020/21 did allow for a few personal musical performance highlights; a continuation of the collaborative relationship between QPAC, Camerata - Queensland's Chamber Orchestra, Red Chair and myself in the Viva España series of concerts, the filming, recording (at the incredible Yama-Nui studio) and micro tour project with brilliant singer Kacey Patrick for our new duo Youkali, the continuation of my work with the outrageously talented musicians in the world music group Kooralbyn, and the sell out 20th anniversary concert of The Saruzu Quartet (see gallery page for a collection of both performance and off-duty tour photos). Floods in my region in Queensland, covid and very upsetting and disturbing events in war torn places in the world notwithstanding, 2022 has begun with energy and optimism. First cab off the rank is a much awaited return to the stage with some of my flamenco buddies in a micro tour with Jaleos Flamenco (click on the banner above for a link to all info). There are many more plans afoot for 2022; recording projects, more micro tours (although with the growing confidence of open borders they are about to become just good ole 'tours' and not so 'micro' anymore), composition and film projects, I think I'll cool my heels a bit and give in to the lingering unpredictability of the times and wait until we actually get to enjoy the delivery of them before I crow about how great they're going to be....
Looking forward to seeing you out ’n about post social distancing!!
